Benefits of Ginger

Ginger is a healthy addition to your healing diet. It is loaded with nutrients and bioactive compounds.
Ginger has been used for thousands of years for culinary and medicinal purposes. Ginger is a powerful herb that comes from a flowering plant, where the root is used and due to its antioxidants, anti inflammatory properties and therapeutic compounds it has proven benefits for pain relief, digestion and many other health benefits.

Here are the top 10 benefits of Ginger
1 Relieves Nausea
Ginger is a common remedy to treat nausea from cold or flu, or from morning sickness. It has also proven to combat nausea and vomiting from chemotherapy and motion sickness. Scientists believe that certain chemicals found in ginger may influence the nervous system, stomach and intestines, in turn stopping nausea.
Chewing raw ginger, dried, crystallized ginger or drinking ginger tea is a common home remedy for nausea. Ginger Rescue - Chewable Ginger

2. Digestion:
Ginger has a powerful benefit in in its ability to support digestive health and relieve discomforts from digestive issues. It helps neutralize acids, and can help with acid reflux and has been proven 6 times more effective than antacid medication. After eating, elevated sugar levels reduce the stomach's ability to empty its content. Ginger helps regulate sugar levels and improves absorption of nutrients and minerals. It also speeds up the movement of food from the stomach into the small intestine. Ginger helps with colon cleansing and bloating. 1 cup of ginger tea can lessen digestive issues.

3. Weight Loss and Obesity
Being overweight can cause many health problems, such as heart attack, stroke or high blood pressure. Adding ginger to your diet can aid in weight loss by boosting your metabolism. It expands blood vessel size, which increases body heat and allows you to burn more fat. This makes it a perfect fat and calorie burner.
Before a meal, simply chew on a piece of garlic root, this will stimulate digestion and reduce the amount of cortisol in your body, as well as increase energy and combat fatigue.

4. Reduces inflammation and muscle pain:
Studies on arthritis have shown Ginger has proven to be more effective in reducing pain than many over the counter pain medications such as ibuprofen, without the damaging side effects.. Ginger contains gingerol which has powerful anti inflammatory properties, and stops the release of inflammatory cytokines in immune cells.

5. Lowers blood sugars
Ginger has been shown to lower blood sugar levels and improve various heart disease risk factors in patients with type 2 diabetes. Ginger was shown to improve fasting blood sugar in people with diabetes. It can affect insulin and blood sugar levels, so talk to your doctor before adding to your diet.

6. Lowers Cholesterol levels and blood pressure:
High cholesterol is known to cause heart disease. Ginger has proven to lower cholesterol levels, and acts as a blood thinner. By thinning the blood, it eases blood circulation and helps in preventing cholesterol build up in the arteries. This increases circulation in the body which in turn reduces blood pressure in the body and lowers the risk of heart attacks.

7. Improves Brain Function:
Ginger can reduce the risks of neurodegenerative conditions, such as dementia, alzheimers and parkinsons disease. This is due to ginger’s ability to reduce chronic inflammation in the brain and body, and relieve oxidative stress.

8. Removes Excess Gas, Flatulence
Too much gas can cause bloating, pain and flatulence. Excess gas can also be embarrassing! Ginger has a digestive enzyme that helps breaks down protein, and helps food you eat digest more easily. This leads to less bloating and gas.

9. Fights infections and cold and flu: Gingerol, a bioactive substance in fresh ginger can help lower the risk of infections.
It can inhibit the growth of different types of bacteria: specifically oral bacteria, such as gingivitis and periodontitis. It is effective against the RSV virus, a respiratory infection.
Steeping fresh ginger root (grated) in boiled water, can help aid a sore throat, cough and colds.

10. Headaches and PMS
If you are suffering from a headache,or PMS drink some ginger tea. It has been proven ginger is just as powerful as ibuprofen, since it is an anti inflammatory herb. It also acts as a diaphoretic and induces sweating, which helps remove toxins from the body.
NUTRIENTS found in Ginger: Gingerol, antioxidants, Vitamin B6, magnesium, phosphorus, zinc, folate, riboflavin, niacin, vitamin C, potassium, iron.
You can chew on a raw piece of ginger, add to green smoothies, juices, water, recipes, such as stir fries, dressing,or make a ginger tea.
